For many Americans, correcting vision problems may simply require a referral to an ophthalmologist for evaluation and treatment. For millions of people in countries around the world, that’s simply not possible. There is little to no access to medical treatment, and vision care isn’t a reality. This is especially true for children, whose unique developmental stages require advanced skill sets and procedural techniques to care for them properly. A recent trip to Southeast Asia highlights one physician team's work to bring advanced vision care to rural medical clinics.
