In late December 2024, Congress extended hospital-at-home and telehealth flexibilities until March 2025, offering a temporary reprieve for these critical home care programs. The National Alliance for Care at Home sees this as a step toward making these programs permanent fixtures in Medicare.

While healthcare providers like Medically Home and Vivalink praised the three-month extension, they hope it leads to a more permanent solution. Advocates stress the need for continued attention to home-based care models, with efforts focused on securing a long-term solution in 2025.

The extension is viewed as a significant win, but work remains to ensure lasting support for hospital-at-home and telehealth programs.
